Tax Credit Programs

Both businesses and individuals can earn a 90% tax credit against Pennsylvania state taxes when they make a contribution to St. Stephen’s Episcopal School’s scholarship fund.

How it Works

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has created several tax credit programs to facilitate contributions to scholarship funds.

St. Stephen’s Episcopal School  works with the Central Pennsylvania Scholarship Fund (CPSF) to process these contributions from generous donors like you. Donors are bundled into Special Purpose Entities to qualify for the credits.

You can submit an application year round. However, tax credits are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and there are limited tax credits available for the program, so submitting your application as early as possible is critical to participation in any given year.

Eligibility

  • Businesses: Eligible entities include LLCs & LLPs, Corporations, S-Corporations, and Partnerships.

  • Individuals: To be eligible to participate, individuals must make a minimum contribution of $3,500 to the program.

Process-- Take these steps to participate:

  1. Complete one page form. On this simple form, called a Joinder Agreement, you indicate the amount of your contribution, and designate St. Stephen’s Episcopal School  as the recipient.

  2. Make your initial contribution. CPSF will notify you when the Commonwealth grants credits for the current tax year, and request you to make your contribution. Credits are granted in batches throughout the year. CPSF will ask you which batch works best for you. All contributions must be made within 60 days of the Commonwealth’s grant.

  3. Notify the school. Please notify the school when you have made your contribution, so we can include your gift in our financial aid budget.

  4. Funds distributed. CPSF distributes 100% of your contributed funds to St. Stephen’s Episcopal School. The school uses the funds to provide critical financial aid that enables access to our unique program for students.

  5. Receive Tax documents. In February of the following year, you will receive tax filing documents to include with your return, which entitle you to the 90% state tax credit.

  6. Cash your check. After July 1, the state issues the 90% tax credit for your donation. Enjoy!
